Test ready is where you are driving completely independently. That means no help from me with controlling the car or managing traffic situations. During our time together we will regularly review your progress and we will agree mutually when to book your driving test.
How long before I can take my test?
I often get asked “How long will it be before I can take my test?” This varies person to person but, in my experience, it takes on average 50 hours of tuition and 20 hours of private practice. That’s the AVERAGE. Some people take slightly less time and some take much longer.
Please be aware that if I do not consider you are at a test ready standard I will not be recommending you book your test. In the event that you book your test without my agreement then I will not be consenting to the use of my car for the test.
The reasons for this are those of safety. If you are not driving safely independently you run the risk of being involved in a safety critical situation which could compromise your safety, that of the examiner and/or other road users. You also run the risk of damaging my car. In the event of my car being damaged I cannot work.

My job as a driving instructor is to enable you to acquire the skills of safe driving for life not just to scrape past the driving test. I understand that many people are test focused, my focus, however, is to create safe drivers.
I feel very passionately about road safety and take my job in helping to provide the next generation of safe drivers very seriously.
